My formal clinical experience began at Tufts University, where I worked for a year as an intern at a residential home as part of my degree requirements. After graduating from Tufts, I obtained a position as an outreach worker at Massachusetts General Hospital. In this position, I had several years of experience working with children and adolescents and their parents, through an after-school program.
As a student psychotherapist and psychodiagnostic examiner at the George Mason University Center for Psychological Services, I had the experience of working with adult, adolescent and child clients, providing individual, couples and family psychotherapy. I also had the opportunity to conduct intellectual and psychological assessments for children, adolescents and adults through both course work and direct clinical training at the Center. Additionally, my work as a graduate research assistant has allowed me the chance to conduct in depth interviews with a population of inmates.
As an extern at Georgetown University's Child and Human Development Center I had the opportunity to work with on two interdisciplinary teams, providing observation and assessment for infants, toddlers and preschool aged children who had or were at risk for developmental disabilities. I was also able to provide play therapy and consult with teachers and parents. This work was carried out in a number of settings, including a DC area Head Start and Early Head Start program for homeless children and clinics held at Georgetown Hospital. Additionally, I was awarded a Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities traineeship at Children's National Medical Center, which provided me with training and experience in clinical, research, teaching, and policy and advocacy work.
Last year, working at the Inova Kellar Center in the Attention and Learning Disabilities program, I conducted assessments for children and adolescents with learning, attention and behavioral concerns, as well as individual and family therapy. I also worked in two private neuropsychology offices, administering assessments to children and adolescents.
Last fall, I started my pre-doctoral internship at Riverbend Community Health Center, Inc., in Concord, NH. Here I work as an office-based clinician, providing individual and family therapy, as well as psychological assessments and case management for children and their families. I am also working two days a week providing services through a local elementary school.
Throughout my clinical experiences, I have had the opportunity to receive supervision in various theoretical orientations and to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. These individuals were struggling with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, abuse and victimization, sexually aggressive behaviors and relationship difficulties.
My current clinical interests include child, adolescent and family psychotherapy and assessment and community work and consultation with agencies serving children and their families.
